Katapola's historical bay welcomes its visitors to its
leeward and safe port. There are thr three settlementsd
Katapola , xilokeratidi and Rachidi.
Above Katapolas settlemment is the hill of ancient Minoa, the homonymous historical
city-state, where the remains of some of the important buildings can still be
seen: the walls of the city, the gymnasium, some eminent hellenistic churches
and the archaic citabel. The bay has been inbabited for almost 6,000 years. |

The picturesque landscape and the simple forms of Cyccladic
arcitecture of the settlements are interesting to see , especially
the monuments to Panagia Katapoliani, the Byzantine church
of Evagelismos above Xilokeratidi, and the historic chapels
of Taxiarchis;s and St. Irene.
Katapola's town offers many tourist facilities and is full
of shops with local crafts.
Fascinating beaches nearby are : Kato Akrotiri, Maltezi,
Plakes, Triss Ierarches, Agios Panteleimonas, Finikies, Tirokomos
